Advisory Board Charge
Purpose
- Provide strategic guidance and input to LISC Bay Area and the San Francisco Foundation (SFF) in implementing the Partnership for the Bay’s Future Family of Loan and Policy Funds.
- Come together across sectors to support transformative housing solutions, and coordinate strategy and collective action to shift the Bay Area’s long-term growth to a more inclusive and equitable future.
- Further the knowledge, interest, and political will among a diverse network of civic leaders, housing developers, advocates, business and labor leaders, and subject-matter experts—working toward a shared regional vision of racial equity and economic inclusion.
Roles
Advisory Board members serve as ambassadors, advisors, and stewards of PBF, helping strengthen its collective impact across the region.
- Ambassadors: Actively represent PBF and its mission in your networks.
- Advisors: Provide expertise, problem-solving, and resources to strengthen PBF.
- Mentors: Support PBF Fellows by offering mentorship, connections and opportunities to advance their policy goals.
- Fundraisers: Help identify and cultivate potential funders and partners for the Policy Fund.
- Communications: Use your networks and platforms to share PBF stories, milestones, and resources to expand awareness and alignment across the field.
- Relationships: Provide introductions and connections to key stakeholders for collaboration.
- Committees: Members may form self-selecting, ad-hoc, or standing groups to focus on specific topics or strategies, advise SFF and LISC as needed, and bring recommendations or updates back to the full Advisory Board.
Co-Chairs, Conveners, and Facilitators: SFF & LISC Bay Area
- Formally convene and lead meetings
- Welcome Advisory Board members and frame aspirations and context
- Provide staff support for meeting logistics (location, food, RSVPs)
- Advance and support the PBF’s work as a part of a unified regional housing strategy
- Provide staff support for the Advisory Board’s work (meeting agendas, notes, roster maintenance, etc.)
Membership
Advisory Board membership is by invitation-only, with each member serves two-year terms.
Meetings & Communication
- Quarterly meetings hosted by SFF
- Meeting summaries provided by SFF
- Interim updates and ad-hoc communications as needed between meetings
