EXPLORING NEW FRONTIERS IN PUBLIC AND SOCIAL HOUSING

Tuesday, May 6
5:30 – 6:30 pm

Join us for a timely and insightful panel discussion exploring how public and social housing can evolve to meet today’s housing crisis. These models—government owned or supported housing that is permanently affordable—are gaining attention as essential tools for housing stability. With California showing renewed interest in models like Vienna’s world-renowned social housing system, this conversation will highlight the critical role that public housing authorities can play in leading this shift. Panelists will discuss the legacy and challenges of federal public housing, what it will take to build a new paradigm rooted in public investment and equity, and how housing authorities can be part of a bold vision for the future.

TRANSFORMING HOUSING POLICY THROUGH COMMUNITY-DRIVEN SOLUTIONS

Thursday, May 15
12:00 – 1:00 pm

Too often, housing policies are developed without meaningful input from the communities they impact most—exacerbating inequities and limiting the effectiveness of policy solutions. The Policy Fund, a core initiative of the Partnership for the Bay’s Future (PBF), is changing that by fostering deep collaboration between local governments and community-based organizations to co-create policies that protect renters, prevent displacement, and expand access to affordable housing.

This panel will explore how the Policy Fund’s approach has helped pass 14 equity-centered housing policies across the Bay Area by ensuring community leadership is at the heart of the policymaking process. Speakers will share insights on best practices for government-community collaboration, common challenges in developing and implementing housing policies, and strategies for ensuring policies reflect the needs and priorities of those most impacted by the housing crisis. Join us to learn how this model is creating stronger, more equitable housing policies and what it takes to make community-driven solutions a reality.

EMPOWERING TENANTS: A TRAINING ON THE TENANT POWER TOOLKIT

Wednesday, June 4
12:00 – 2:00 pm

Tenants facing eviction often struggle to navigate complex legal processes, find reliable information, and access the support they need to fight back. The Tenant Power Toolkit is designed to change that. Developed by the Debt Collective, this toolkit helps tenants generate legal documents to respond to eviction notices, understand their rights, and connect with tenant organizers and legal service providers.

This webinar will provide an in-depth walkthrough of the toolkit, highlight real-world examples of its impact, and explore ways to integrate it into local eviction defense efforts. Hear from organizers and legal experts on how to incorporate the toolkit into your work and build stronger networks of defense.
